Hello and welcome to the Treehouse School! We are now operating in two locations- Portsmouth, NH and Charlestown, MA. We are a preschool educating children ages 2.9-5 years old, offering early morning and extended day programs for your convenience! Founded by Kristin Fichera, a private school educator from New York City, The Treehouse School prides itself on its progressive teaching methods. Unlike any other school in the area, we believe that there isn't just ONE approach to learning. That's why we have a hybrid philosophy. So what does that look like?
Children learn best through imaginative play. Exploration and peer interaction lay the foundation for a successful student. However, The Treehouse also believes that a child must have direct instruction in literacy and mathematics for his or her academic future.
Incorporating our philosophy is at the roots of this treehouse, yet we NEVER lose sight of our #1 goal: Always have fun!
Hello! My name is Kristin Fichera, owner and head teacher at the Treehouse School. Opening my own preschool has always been a dream of mine. Education and teaching is my passion and I truly feel that it's a privilege to work with your children everyday! I have taught Pre-K through 2nd Grade for the past twelve years and have my M.Ed from Lesley University. From progressive private schools in Boston and NYC to the honorable public schools in Massachusetts, I find my diverse experience has allowed me to develop a unique mission. To me, a Treehouse represents a pillar of strength, grounded in roots. It represents exploration and adventure...climbing to new heights and seeing the world from a different perspective. Come join me as we watch your children learn, grow and have FUN!
Lead teacher of our 2-3 year old (Chickadees) classroom.
Destiny received her Masters in Montessori from The Montessori Institute of New England. She has been teaching for the past 15 years.
“I love teaching because every single day I can make a difference in someone’s life which goes far beyond knowledge. I strive to inspire, support, mentor and get the chance to discover and share some of the best parts of ourselves as human beings. I also strive at creating a calm and peaceful learning environment for my students which has had a massive impact on their learning and own well-being.”
Lead teacher of our 4-5 year old (Owl) classroom.
Danielle received her Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education from the University of Maine Farmington in 2014 and continued on to receive her master’s degree at the University of Maine at Orono in Early Literacy two years ago.
Since graduating, she has been a Lead Pre-K teacher at Berwick Academy as well as the Katherine Miles Durst Child Development Learning Center in Maine. She spends most of her spare time outside, usually running, hiking, or relaxing at the beach. She can’t wait to share her passion of the outdoors with her students this year! Her philosophy for teaching young children is centered on learning how to become kind and caring citizens to our community, as a classroom, and as a whole.
